Youth Council

The Voice of our Future.

Our youth council consists of anywhere from 10 to 20 young people from a variety of secondary schools. These young people took part in the program themselves and made a difference in their community as agents4change. As youth council members they help to develop, implement and evaluate the program with very useful advice. They know exactly which SRHR issues young people are facing, which delivery mediums are most popular and what the best way is to involve their peers.

The Youth Council is also actively involved in advocacy, helping us with our initiatives and spearheading their own. They take part in conversations with decision makers, representing the voice of all young people and showing the effects of laws and policies on their lives. Because young people stand up for the rights of other young people, the legitimacy of the advocacy activities increases.

After all, they know what they’re talking about.
